Apartment “Nazionale” is an elegantly decorated apartment on one of Rome's grand boulevards. Near the Opera House. Public transportation to other parts of Rome is found across the street, and includes the convenient #64 bus that runs through central Rome linking the main train station with the Vatican. From the apartment, it is a 15 minute walk to the Piazza di Spagna.
Apartment “Nazionale” has been furnished with taste and sophistication and the overall effect is stunning. It contains an extensive art collection that mixes tribal and contemporary pieces. Everything is suited to modern tastes. The apartment is fully carpeted, the lighting is excellent, and double pane glass gives protection from street noise. The bathrooms are finished in travertine marble. It is located on the 5th and top floor and has about 1,300 square feet of indoor space.
The art collection dominates every room, and is enhanced by the use of mirrors in cupboards and on walls. The entrance hall leads directly to a split-level living room with fine furniture pieces and built-in banquettes. The large bedroom is furnished with a low queen bed, covered with a beige raw-silk bead spread and a Lapin fur throw and two Louis XVI side chairs. An old Pakistani wedding robe and modern paintings enhance the walls. A long built-in desk with TV and Fax machine is set below a large window, hung with roman shades (as are all the other windows in the apartment). Full size wall units and built-in drawers finish the room.
The Master bathroom (Tub with wall-mounted and hand-showers and elegant partial glass partition) off the hallway is finished in Travertine with good lighting and plenty of storage space.
The Dining room is furnished with an elegant round Travertine table and 6 rare Castiglione chairs. Extensive built-in mirror-front cupboards and sideboard are fully stocked with serving pieces and crystal. The dominating piece among other modern art, is a rare antique embroidery from India .
The separate, fully modernized Kitchen includes a 4-burner gas stove, a convector oven, fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, American coffee maker, microwave, double sink, marbleized countertops and white cupboards. Large sliding windows open for sunlight and fresh air. Counter with one chair for preparation or morning coffee.
The library has floor to ceiling bookcases that lead to the painted ceilings dating from 1850. It has a pullout sofa bed (double) and a built-in desk area and clothes cupboard. There is a small, ensuite bathroom with a shower.
An original cast iron staircase adjacent to the apartment's front door leads to a large, private rooftop terrace that is 800 square feet in size. There is a dining table for six and two lounge chairs with cushions, surrounded by extensive plantings.
Apartment “Nazionale” is a very special place. It offers beautiful and comfortable surroundings, as well as outdoor space, in a convenient area of Rome.
